I’ve always had a thing for languages, right from a very young age when, on holiday with my family, I was the “official” interpreter in the playground of a camping site.
My future was mapped out by a radio broadcast, heard by chance in the car while returning from Paris. It was an interview with the Dean of the Upper School of Modern Languages and Translators at the University of Trieste. I was in my final year at school, and this broadcast was pivotal in my deciding to abandon the idea of the conventional Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature and instead to opt for Trieste where I passed the entrance exam. It was hard work but I got through and then I quickly began work on a freelance basis.
Having met Silvia at university, and Denise through work, we decided to create IntrAlp together to combine our various professional forces to the benefit of customers.
It’s been a long time since then, but my enthusiasm and interest in my work have not waned. Despite all the experience gained over many years of work, my curiosity drives me to find out more, particularly in the area of new technologies, to make sure that I’m always ready to meet the latest needs of customers.

My luck was in being born into a multicultural and multilingual environment.
I was born in the USA, my parents are German and, when I was 8, we moved as a family to Italy.
Three languages served up on a plate which decided my future.
I’ve now been working as a conference interpreter and translator in various fields for over thirty years, in subjects ranging from the mountains and environment to literature, philosophy, music, medicine, sociology, and the automotive industry.
Customers appreciate my organisational skills and sometimes task me with arranging a team of interpreters and translators to best meet their requirements.
All this is a pleasure for me: my motto it – team work splits up the tasks and multiplies the success.

Believe it or not, everything began with Bob Dylan! Thinking back on why I decided to become a translator and interpreter, it all seems to stem from my early uncertain attempts when a young girl to translate and understand the lyrics of his songs, a source of inspiration but challenging my determination to forge a path in this new and difficult direction. At almost the same time, there were the lyrics by the group Inti Illimani in Spanish which fed not only into my love of Latin America and its language but particularly into my youthful revolutionary spirit.
French, however, wasn’t love at first sight, but a slow and patient encountering that eventually turned into a solid, long-lasting relationship….
Basically, even before languages meant study and hard work for me, I was already intensely interested in them and the cultures surrounding them.
Perhaps the key word is “curiosity”, the need to know, to travel and to understand. I think this was the beginning of everything.
